CHS REUNION PICNIC - 2023
What a wonderful time we all had at the 2023 CHS Reunion Picnic on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend! More than 300 graduates came to the park, and this year we had several new touches to add to our day: an orange and black (naturally!) balloon arch walkthrough welcoming grads to the lodge and pavilion, a great meal by Our Little Secret catering and a wide variety of delicious desserts baked by Rhonda Green Patterson (CHS 1972) and her family, music by Back Tracks (with Jack Lesko, CHS 1971) and DJ MacDaddy, a gift basket raffle in addition to our Share the Wealth Drawing, T-shirts, and a large tent for a number of classes.
The best part? Mingling with old friends and making new ones, especially some graduates from later classes who promise to keep coming back each year.
Roger Tachoir, a retired teacher and current school board member, also came with information on the stadium renovation project. If you did not get a chance to talk to him, here is a link to a story that explains it in detail: https://www.unionprogress.com/2023/08/19/clairton-unveils-4-phase-plan-to-renovate-its-football-stadium/.
We also added a tour of the Clairton School District building on Friday, the day before the picnic, and more than 40 alumni came. We cheered on the team with the students at their pep assembly, and a good number stayed for dinner with the team. Superintendent Dr. Tamara Allen-Thomas led the tour and met many grads. Alexis Barna Trubiani (CHS 1998), district athletic director and public relations coordinator, took care of all the details. We loved it, and we will make sure we do something similar with the district next year.
We have had many requests to post photos of the picnic and the tour, so if you have any to share on our website, please send them to allchsreunions@gmail.com. Special thanks to Anna Marie Bochter for continuing to help with our site.
We are also pleased that we partnered with the Clairtonian Reunion Committee, which also plans a number of events for CHS alumni and Clairton residents over Labor Day weekend. We helped with fundraising and promotions and offered assistance at the many events it plans. We will keep that collaboration going in the future.
If your class will celebrate a milestone or other reunion next year, please let us know. We would love to see you pair your celebration with our annual event, which always falls on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. We will help you spread the word and answer any questions you might have to ease your planning. Keep this date for the reunion picnic in mind: Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024.
We promise to keep in touch!
